Why does my child need this
medicine?
How should I give my child this
medicine?

Usually given once a day and is available in liquid and tablet form.

Give this medicine at the same time every day.

Carefully measure the liquid dose using a syringe or marked medicine dropper as instructed by a nurse or pharmacist.

Do not stop giving your child Atenolol unless told to do so by your child's doctor. The dose may need to be decreased slowly before stopping.

Check with your child's doctor or pharmacist before giving other medications, including over-the- counter medications.
How should I store this medicine?

Store in the original bottle at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. If any child gets into the bottle and swallows Atenolol, call the Poison Control Center immediately ( In Indiana 1-800-382-9097).
What should I do if my child misses a dose of medicine?

Give the missed dose as soon as you remember.

If more than two doses are missed, call your child's doctor.

Do not give a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
What should I do if my child vomits the medicine?

Do not repeat the dose of Atenolol. Give the prescribed amount of medication at the next regular time.

If your child continues to vomit or have diarrhea, call your child's doctor.
When should I call the doctor?

If you think you have given your child too much medicine.

If your child has: skin rash, persistent nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, shortness of breath, wheezing, swelling of the hands or feet, hallucinations, slow or irregular heartbeat
