Why does my child need this medicine?
How should I give my child this medicine?

Follow your child's doctor instructions on how often to give the medicine to your child.

You may give with or without food.
-
Do not give your child any other medicines, including over-the-counter medicines, until you check with your child's doctor.
How should I store this medicine?
-
Keep this medicine in the original container, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Store tablets at room temperature. If your child was prescribed a liquid, ask your pharmacist how to store it.

If any child gets into the bottle and swallows Lipitor, call the Poison Control Center. (Indiana 1-800-382-9097)
What should I do if my child misses a dose of medicine?

Give the dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, do not give the missed dose.

Do not give a double dose.
When should I call the doctor?
-
Yellowing of skin or eyes.
-
Stomach pain with nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite.
-
Muscle pain, weakness, or cramps, especially if your child has a fever.
-
Skin rash or hives.
Special instructions:

Tell your child's doctor if your child has a history of liver disease. Kidney disease, seizures, or a muscle disorder.

Before having any surgery or emergency treatment, make sure your child's doctor or dentist knows your child is taking this medication.

Your child will have blood tests on a regular schedule while taking Lipitor, so your child's doctor can make sure the medicine is working.
