Why does my child need this medicine?
How should I give my child this medicine?

Sotalol is given one to two times a day.
-
Give Sotalol at the same time every day.
-
Do not stop giving your child Sotalol unless told to do so by your child's doctor.

Do not give your child any other medicines, including over-the-counter medications until your have checked with your child's doctor.
How should I store this medicine?

Store in the original bottle, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

As with all medications, Sotalol should be kept out of the reach of children. If any child gets into the bottle and swallows Sotalol, call the Poison Control Center. (Indiana 1-800-382-9097)
What should I do if my child misses a dose of medicine?

It is important to give your child the prescribed dose of Sotalol at the same time every day.

Give the medicine as soon as your remember it. If it is almost time for the next dose, do not give the missed dose. Instead, give the next dose at the usual time.

Do not give two doses of Sotalol at the same time.

If more than two doses are missed, call your child's doctor.
What should I do if my child vomits the medicine?

Do not repeat the dose of Sotalol.
-
Give the prescribed amount of Sotalol at the next regular time.

If your child continues to vomit or develops diarrhea, call your child's doctor.
When should I call the doctor?
-
If your child has: new heart palpitations, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, hands, legs, feet, persistent vomiting, severe diarrhea, dehydration or rash.
